Half a mile of avenue wanders through parkland, its green grass
maintained in perfect order with the assistance of sixteen
hundred sheep and their lambs. Fine old trees provide the flock
with a measure of shade on hot days and, in all directions,
there is a screen formed by the natural woods that cover more
than half the demesne. Temple House is a magnificent Georgian
mansion set amidst a 1,000 acre private estate in Co Sligo.
Perhaps it is because it has been the family home since 1665
that makes the atmosphere here so peaceful and special. Temple
House boasts rooms of enormous proportions and grandeur and yet
there is a real sense of intimacy here too.
Hold your civil ceremony in the Drawing Room, or maybe celebrate
with a blessing by the Knights Templar lakeside castle, or just
make merry. We can welcome small intimate gatherings or larger
parties. The croquet lawn is also an ideal spot for a marquee so
the options are limitless. The gardens are spectacular, the
whole setting breathtaking. |

Food is important here too, taking enormous pride in our
reputation; we look for fresh local ingredients and go from
there.
The sheer size of the house is particularly well suited
to a buffet and dance but also provides a beautiful backdrop for
a sit-down.
Your guests can mingle, inside or outside, it is
all very flexible, relaxed and romantic.
There are just 6 guest bedrooms in the house so exclusivity is
easy. Two cottages on the estate plus local hotels and B&Bs
offer a flexible approach to accommodation.
We would always
suggest that the wedding party take the house for more than just
the day.
You will enjoy your stay all the more. There is a
special ambiance at Temple House and it loves a celebration. |

Wedding Reception
A wedding reception at Temple House is unusual and deliberately
different. It is not a hotel but a wonderful country house
overlooking Knights Templar castle – it all adds to a very
special experience.
We encourage all our parties to gather in the vestibule for
champagne and canapes. It is a spectacular space and holds a
huge number of people who are usually looking up at the wonders
of the ceiling before moving through to the morning room and
drawing room.
One would also hope that the sun will shine on
your day so that you can enjoy the garden and its views too. |
