A brief history

	The First Earl of Darnley, John Bligh built the Darnley Lodge late in the 19th century.

Originally a tavern serving food and ales, it progressed as a resting point for highway travellers and a meeting place for the local community. The Old Darnley Lodge Hotel is that alehouse in its current incarnation where the patrons are still looked after in a warm and relaxing atmosphere and there are still fine ales and good food served.
