Garden and Grounds
Every direction has a different vista, from the walled garden to the south, to the ancient Ballymagarvey Cemetary c. 1659 to the north.
Rolling paddocks to the east whilst the old mill pond, wishing well and waterfall catch the sun to the west.
The Courtyard
Once a hive of activity as farmers from all around brought cart loads of flax , grain and animal bones for milling the courtyard is now calm with the sound of running water (pumped from the 18th century underground caverns which were built to store water in times of shortage) as it meanders over the terraced courtyard to the village trough.
It is interesting to note the difference in construction method of the Main House which was built from basic field stones pre Famine times ( random rubble stones ) to the more elaborate and more expensive cut stones used in the later construction of the mill, granary and coach house buildings.
The Pond
The restored Mill Pond is an ideal habitat for our stocks of brown trout and rainbow trout and a peaceful place to sit and meditate.
The Wishing Well and the Rustic Bridge by the Waterfall make wonderful photo opportunities whilst the rowing boat on the mill pond presents a challenge for the more energetic.

Conservatory Library
Serves as a cosy and intimate wedding venue or as an ideal meeting room overlooking the restored walled garden with it’s old yew trees, fruit trees and lavender beds.
Vines, mandarin and lemon trees decorate this intimate room with a fresh citrus aroma, whilst at night time soft lighting and candles create a really relaxed atmosphere
The Black lion Pub
Annexed to the main house the Blacklion celebrates the local alehouse of the parish of Ballymagarvey. Small in size, big in atmosphere, it provides a convivial and intimate surround for any gathering.
Connected to the Drawing Room and small conservatory there is ample overflow for parties small and large whilst at the same time keeping the whole group together in one place.

Rathfeigh Church
Situated in the middle of the Meath countryside this beautiful Catholic Church of The Immaculate Conception has been previously used by celebrities Brian and Kerry Mc Fadden to tie the knot in 2002.
The 150 year old stone church is ideal for a private wedding with only one small country road leading to the church which is surrounded by trees and situated next to a graveyard.
This church is conveniently located just a few miles from Ballymagarvey Village. |
